Two
International Awards for Professor Pamuk
The article "Real Wages and the Standards of Living in the Ottoman
Empire, 1489-1914" that Professor Sevket Pamuk and Professor
Süleyman Ozmucur, formerly of Bogaziçi University, published in the June
2002 issue of The Journal of Economic History was recently awarded by
the American Economic History Association the Arthur H. Cole Prize for
the outstanding article published in The Journal of Economic History during
2002.
Professor Pamuk also received recently
the "Fuad Köprülü Book Prize" of the Turkish Studies Association
of North America for his A Monetary History of the Ottoman Empire, published
by the Cambridge University Press, as the best book published in Turkish
and Ottoman studies during 2000-2001.
