:: EHES Dissertation Competition ::


Sixteen young scholars who have received their doctoral degrees between (January 1, 2003 and March 31, 2005) have participated in
the EHES Biennial Dissertation Competition this year.

The Jury consisting of Leandro Prados de la Escosura (last President of the Society), Lennart Schön (next President) and Gerben Bakker (last winner of the Competition) have decided on the following three finalists :


Mar Cebrian Villar, “Technological imitation and economic growth during the Golden Age, 1959-1973”,

defended at the European University Institute; Supervisor: Giovanni Federico


Juan-Huitzi Flores, ““When the leader follows the crowd: The Baring Crisis in a microeconomic perspective, 1880-1890”,

defended at Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris; Supervisior: Marc Flandreau


Nikolaus Wolf, “Economic integration in historical perspective: The case of Interwar Poland, 1918-1939”

defended at the Humboldt University of Berlin; Supervisor: Albrecht Ritschl

The Disssertation Competition session will be held on the afternoon of the first day of the Conference.
Each of the finalists will make a 15-minute presentation and respond to questions.


The winner of the EHES Luzatto Dissertation Prize will be announced during the Closing Session of the Conference.
