Manuscript Templates and Guides

The following documents are available for download to aid degree candidates in the preparation of their manuscripts for submission to the Institute.

  • THE FORM OF THESES AND DISSERTATIONS (PDF)

    Guidelines that explain the full content and formatting requirements for drafts and bound copies of theses and dissertations.

  • ANNOTATED SAMPLE MANUSCRIPT (PDF)

    Fully-formatted sample manuscript including possible variations of front and back matter. Detailed annotations explain the formatting and indicate the paragraph styles to be used.

  • USAGE MANUAL (PDF)

    Manual explaining basic stylistic expectations and also commonly encountered grammatical, punctuation, and language usage errors. Also includes the “Manuscript Checklist.”

  • MICROSOFT WORD TEMPLATE (DOTX)

    A templates that contains preformatted, dummy content that authors may conveniently replace with their own. Possible variations of front and back matter are accounted for in the template.

  • THESIS AND DISSERTATION TIMELINE (PDF)

    Diagram of the full manuscript preparation and submission process.

Downloads

The files listed above are maintained in two zipped packages, for doctoral and master’s candidates, respectively.

The (PDF) files are designed for use with the latest version of the freely available Adobe Acrobat Reader. Interactive functions may not work properly with other PDF reading applications.
